"Air Jordan," as Michael Jordan was nicknamed, won Olympic gold in 1992 as a member of the Dream Team, which is considered by many to be the greatest basketball team of all time. It was his second gold medal after the one he won in 1984, and he stood out even on the 1992 team. Jordan also won six NBA titles (1991-1993; 1996-1998) and was Most Valuable Player of the Finals all six times. He was leave MVP five times and played in fourteen All-Star Games, earning MVP honors on three of those occasions. He enjoyed success in college as well, winning a National Championship with the University of North Carolina in 1982. That year he was ACC Rookie of the Year. Two years later, he was National College Player of the Year and ACC Player of the Year.

Jordan's legendary status made him highly sought after as a celebrity endorser. He featured in ads for such companies as Hanes, McDonald's, Coca-Cola, and Nike. Perhaps the most famous endorsement, though, was Gatorade, which included the song "Be Like Mike" in several of the ads. He also appeared in a music video by Michael Jackson and started in Space Jam, a combination live action and animated movie.
