Jalen Hurts played his freshman season at the University of Alabama in 2016. In the second game of the year, he became the first true freshman to start at quarterback for the Crimson Tide in 32 years. He led his team to an SEC Championship at the National Championship Game, which Alabama lost to Clemson. The following season, Hurts took Alabama back to the National Championship Game. Hurts was benched by coach Nick Saban at halftime, but Alabama won the game. Hurts backed up his replacement, Tua Tagovailoa, in his third year and graduated in December 2018. He transferred to Oklahoma as a grad student and led the Sooners to the Big XII Championship and the playoffs. Hurts finished second to Joe Burrow in voting for the Heisman Trophy. The Philadelphia Eagles took him in Round 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft. Hurts played fifteen games in his rookie year, going 1-3 as a starter.
