A College Phenom

Jalen Hurts took over the starting job at Alabama in 2016. He became the first true freshman to start a game at quarterback for the Crimson Tide in 32 years. He led his team to an SEC Championship and the College Football Playoffs, though Alabama lost to Clemson Championship Game. The following year, he led the Tide to the playoffs again. Though he was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl, he was benched at the half in favor of Tua Tagovailoa. He backed up Tagovailoa in 2018. He graduated in December and transferred to the University of Oklahoma. In his first game, he smashed the school's single game yardage record by racking up 508 yards against Houston. Hurts went on to lead the team to a Big XII Championship and the playoffs, though the Sooners lost to LSU in the Peach Bowl. That season, hurts finished second in voting for the Heisman Trophy to Joe Burrow. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round and went 1-3 as a starter in his rookie year.
