Jalen Hurts started his collegiate career with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2016. In just his second game, he became the first true freshman to start at quarterback for the school in 32 years. Hurts had a sensational season, earning SEC Player of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year honors as he led the Tide to a conference championship and the National Championship Game. The following year, he led Alabama back to the playoffs with the team's sole loss coming at the hands of in-state rival Auburn. Hurts was benched at halftime of the National Championship Game, which the Crimson Tide won, and backed up the man who replaced him, Tua Tagovailoa, the following season. He graduated in December of 2018 and went to Oklahoma as a graduate student for his last year of eligibility. Hurts won the Big XII Championship with the Sooners and finished second to Joe Burrow in voting for the Heisman Trophy. The Sooners also made the playoffs that season.

Hurts went to the Philadelphia Eagles in Round 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in 15 games as a rookie, going 1-3 as a starter. He went 77/148 for 1,061 yards and threw for six TDs and 4 INTs in his first NFL season.
