M & B Ice Cream Brook Trout 3-D NOS Cardstock Sign
Why Purchase This M & B Ice Cream Brook Trout 3-D Cardstock Sign?
Advertising is an intriguing subject and while it's not always at the front of everyone's mind, it is often in front of nearly everyone. Fortunately advertising and the competitive nature of business have created many interesting pieces of memorabilia for collectors over the years. The cardstock sign shown here would have been used in local businesses like restaurants and ice cream shops. Unfortunately, refrigerated shipping wasn't readily available during the early 1900s. This made transporting ice cream a bit of a challenge and kept it a local product.
- The history of M & B Ice Cream goes back to 1910. At that point, it was normal for their ice cream to be delivered to local restaurants by horse drawn wagon. 1910 was when James M. McColgan and William Bogner purchased Hitchings Ice Cream Co. The name change did not occur until McColgan bought out his brother-in-law Bogner. M & B Ice Cream was widely regarded as a fixture of downtown Saginaw during the early 1900s.
