Jalen Hurts replaced Blake Barnett as the starting quarterback at Alabama in the second game of his freshman year. In doing so, he became the first true freshman starting QB at Alabama in 32 years. He led the team to an SEC Championship and the National Championship Game, which the Crimson Tide lost to Clemson 35-31. The following season, he led the the Tide back to the National Championship Game, but he was his new team to the Big XII Championship and the playoffs, where they lost badly to LSU. Hurts finished second to Joe Burrow in voting for the Heisman Trophy. The Philadelphia Eagles drafted hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft, and he went 1-3 as a starting quarterback in his rookie season.
