Step back in time to the first decade of the 20th century with this Dr. Pepper Vienna Art Plate. Plates like this one were put on display to advertise companies and products. The company that made the products sent them to restaurants and bars to build brand recognition of their products. The signs were provided free of charge. This one was made by the W.W Seitz Co. in New York, NY. It is made from tin lithograph, weighs about 12 oz, and measures 10". These plates were typically damaged because of how heavily they were used, but this one is still in Excellent condition. This plate would make a great addition to any soft drink-themed collection.
This plate comes from an important decade in American history. President William McKinley was assassinated, adding to the intrigue of the Curse of Tippecanoe. This plate was also a decade of achievement. The Wright Brothers made the first manned, motorized flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina with their Wright Flyer, and the first rock was moved in the construction of the Panama Canal. The decade also saw the Ford Motor Company take a major step in transforming American transportation by producing its first ever car, the Ford Model A.
