Schlitz Beer Reverse on Glass Pre Prohibition Sign
Why purchase this Pre Prohibition Schlitz Beer Reverse on Glass Sign?
Breweriana collectors are sure to love this pre-prohibition sign from the Schlitz Brewing Co. The sign dates back to the 1910's, when the company's to beer, Schlitz, was one of the most popular in the United States. The time period was especially important in the United States, as it would establish itself as a world power in the First World War. That decade also saw other historic events, such as the institution of the income tax and the creation of the Federal Reserve, both of which played major roles in the development of the United States ever since.
The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and became America's largest beer producer in 1902. It remained at or near the top of that list well into the 1950's, when it frequently swapped positions with Anheuser-Busch. The company sent this type of sign to bars and restaurants to advertise its products. Signs like this were often used heavily, damaged, and even discarded. Accordingly, this piece stands out due to its excellent condition. The sign weighs about three pounds and measures 17" x 13". It would make a great addition to a collection of breweriana, as well as a fantastic keepsake for collectors who are interested in the history of Wisconsin.
Don't miss your chance to own this Schlitz Beer Reverse on Glass Pre Prohibition Sign.
