Prima Beer Kemper Thomas Metal Framed Sign
Why order this Metal Framed Prima Beer Kemper Thomas Sign?
Prohibition ended in the United States in 1933 with the ratification of the 21st Amendment, which repealed the 18th Amendment. In the ensuing decades, breweries popped up across the country. Many of them were in business only briefly, which makes their Breweriana highly collectible. The Primary Brewing Company was one such example of this phenomenon. The company opened in 1938 and closed its doors three years later during World War I.
This sign is particularly intriguing given the time period from which it comes and the brief lifespan of the company whose brand it bears. It also benefits from the fact that the plethora of breweries in Chicago make for a significant number of collectors seeking memorabilia from them. Perhaps the biggest contributor to the value of this sign as a collector's item, though, is its condition. Most signs of this type were heavily used. Many were damaged and even discarded. Although this sign does have several pinholes, they do not detract from the sign, which remains in Good to Very Good condition. This piece will make an excellent addition to the collection of any passionate collector of all things Chicago or someone who loves their Breweriana.
