Why buy this Breweriana Potosi Beer Leyse Aluminum Native American Sign?
The Lyse Aluminum Co. is most famous for its cookware, which is still collectible today. Besides cookware, though, it also made signs. Breweries were among its customers, and the company made this sign for Potosi Beer. The sign was made from Aluminum in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where the Layse Aluminum Co. was located. This sign weighs about six ounces and measures 10". Breweries sent signs like this one to restaurants and bars to help make customers aware of their products. The signs were often damaged from heavy usage. This one, though, is still in Excellent condition. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.
The sign dates back to one of the most challenging decades in American history, the 1930's. The decade included most of the Great Depression and all of the Dust Bowl. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt changed the role of American government through his New Deal programs, and World War II began in Europe, though the United States did not enter the war until 1941. This sign is a great choice for breweriana collectors, as well as those who collect pieces from this important period in American history.
