The Great Depression lasted well into the '30s, as did Prohibition. Both came to and end during the period, though, and breweries sprang up around the country. They would advertise their products in part by sending out signs like this one to bars and restaurants. They provided them free of charge in a win-win situation for the brewery and the establishments.

This sign is a product of American Art Works, which was in Coshocoton, Ohio. It advertised Toledo, Ohio's Buckeye Brewing Co. This piece weighs about one pound and measures 20" x 15". Most signs like this one were used heavily, became damaged, and were eventually thrown away. That makes this one a true standout, as it is in excellent condition. The sign provides a throwback to a bygone era, one filled with many challenges but that would eventually set the stage for America's arrival as a world power.
