From Overlooked Prospect to an NFL Star

Josh Allen was lightly recruited out of high school and started his collegiate career at Reedley College, a junior college. After spending the first three games of his only season there on the bench, he came off the bench to rush for 4 touchdowns and earned the starting job. He threw 25 TD passes that year with just 4 interceptions. He then transferred to Wyoming, where he played in two games and started one in his first season with the team. Allen took over the starting job in 2016 and made the most of the opportunity, completing 209 passes for 3,203 yards and 28 touchdowns, adding 523 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground. In his final season with the Cowboys, he started 11 games, completing 152 passes for 1,812 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushing for 204 yards and 5 touchdowns. That season, he was the MVP of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The Buffalo Bills selected Allen with the seventh pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. He started his rookie season as a backup but quickly took over the starting job. He went 5-6 in a season that was shortened by injury. The following two years, Allen started every game for the Bills. He went 23-9 as a starter in the regular season and 2-2 in the playoffs, including a run to the AFC Championship Game in 2020. The 2020 season was his best so far. He went 13-3 as a starter while completing 396 passes for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns. He also ran 102 times for 421 yards and 8 TDs. Allen was second-team All-Pro for the season and played in the Pro Bowl.
