SEC Star and Super Bowl Winner

Matthew Stafford was a collegiate standout at the University of Georgia. He spent three years as a starter for the Bulldogs. In his freshman year, he was named to the SEC Coaches' All-Freshman Team and was the Rivals.com Freshman of the Week following a November 11 game against Auburn. In his sophomore year, he passed for 2,523 yards on 194 completions with 19 touchdown passes and ten interceptions. Stafford followed that up in 2008 by adding nearly 1,000 yards passing, completing 235/383 passes for 3,459 yards and 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. That season he was named an All-American by Pro Football Weekly and earned MVP honors in the Capital One Bowl. He also set the school record for touchdown passes in a single season with 25. Following the season, he announced that he would forego his senior year to enter the NFL Draft.

The Detroit Lions selected Stafford first overall in the 2009 draft. Stafford set NFL records for the fastest player to 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, and 45,000 career passing yards, as well as fourth quarter comebacks in a single season with 8 in 2016. In 2015, he became the first player in league history to complete 60+% of his passes in every game of the season. Stafford was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in March of 2021. After not winning a playoff game with the Lions in twelve years - and only playing in three - Stafford led the Rams to victory in the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. In doing so, he set franchise records for single season completions (404), passing yards (4,886), and touchdown passes (41).
