Ginobili's Diverse Career

Emanuel, or Manu, Ginobili had a long and varied career as a professional basketball player. While he spent much of it in the NBA, he also played in a number of other professional leagues around the world. One of the interesting things about Ginobili is that he actually comes from a family that is involved with professional basketball. He has two brothers who played professionally and his father was a coach. With a family background like this, it's not surprising at all that Ginobili learned and excelled at basketball quickly. Manu was born in Argentina and began his career there with the Andino team in 1995. He would spend the next few years playing in an assortment of professional leagues, primarily in Europe.

Another interesting thing about Ginobili is that he was drafted to the NBA in 1999, but did not play in the NBA until 2002. He was selected by the San Antonio Spurs in 1999 and he began playing for them in 2002. Once he joined the Spurs, he played for them through his NBA career. Manu racked up quite a list of accomplishments as a professional basketball player. By the time he retired as a player in 2018 he had a EuroLeague title, 4 NBA Championships, and an Olympic gold medal.
